Abdominal Pain- facts
Abdominal pain refers to the pain or discomfort that is felt in the part of the trunk below the ribs and above the pelvis. It originates from the organs within the abdomen region or the organs adjacent to the belly.It is usually caused by inflammation, distention of an organ or by the loss of blood supply to the organ. In case of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), the causes include contraction of the intestinal muscles or hyper-sensitivity to normal intestinal activities.

Indigestion
Discomfort in the upper left or right; middle or lower left or right region of the abdomen
Constipation
Diarrhea
Gastro-esophageal reflux diseases (GERD)
Heartburn
Chest discomfort
Pelvic discomfort
The causes of abdominal pain is diagnosed on the basis of its characteristics, physical examination as well as testing. In some cases, surgery might be required and is necessary for diagnosis. The diagnosis is said to be tricky as characteristics of the condition can be atypical, as a result, the tests are not always abnormal and the characteristics of the pain may change over time. The treatment depends upon the patient’s history of the disease or other health conditions that may be the cause.
